No movie for you!

My boyfriend tends to stare at me in shock for one reason or another but at this moment he is starring at me in awe because I have failed (yet again) in having seen what he claims to be one of the greatest movies EVER!! What movie may this be? Just fill in the blank because there are countless moments like this in our relationship where I need to remind him that I am a girl. I did not spend my childhood watching men shooting each other or blowing shit up.

Most of all I did not watch Star Trek movies with ANY roman numeral after it. (Blasphemy, I know!) I must remind him that I did not grow up with brothers so a lot of my movie choices consisted of Teen Witch, Overboard, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead, Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing. Classic movies in my life and in their own right but not necessarily for the depth their storyline possessed. He tends to give me the same dead pan look when I tell him "No one puts baby in the corner" because he has no idea what I am talking about--and he calls himself a movie novice!

As much as I hate to admit it, he hasn't been wrong yet when choosing a movie. I certainly may whine and moan when he chooses the flick but I always give in and he has actually opened my eyes to an entire world of amazing cinema. Last of the Mohican's, Star Trek, Rudy, The Goonies, Indiana Jones, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games..the list just goes on and on of fantastic movies that I can not believe I lived a life without seeing before.

It has gotten to the point where I won't even put movies in the queue. The last 5 movies I chose were disasters! And the other 3 I picked got less then 30% on rotten tomatoes. They sat in their pretty red envelopes and got shipped straight back to the Netflix headquarters. I have been banned from updating the queue and at this point I can't say I blame him.

The two that stick out in my mind are The Count of Monte Cristo and Midnight Express (no this isn't about a train, I know, I was shocked too!) you'd think with my Prison Break OBSESSION I would have known about these two movies. Then there is Star Trek. Some how I was roped into watching one of the original movies. This led to 5 more and wouldn't you know it there I was sitting in the movie theatre on opening night for the latest installment on the big screen.
It didn't hurt that hottie Chris Pine was playing Captain Kirk but I did practice my Vulcan fingers for two weeks prior to the premiere and if I could have found pointy ears I would have worn them too! Then there is the movie Rudy where if I even hear the words Rudy..Rudy...I start to tear up.

Bottom line, sometimes the person you are with tends to know you better then you know yourself and it never hurts to open yourself up to something you know nothing about because you just may well fall madly in love with him..I mean it.. ;-) For the record though, I am not going to play paintball anytime soon. It has to stop somewhere.
