Baby Bumps and Diamond Rings

Within the first five minutes of this weeks episode of Weeds we see a silhouette of Nancy's growing belly signifying that time has passed. Lots of things have grown. Nancy's baby bump. Andy's beard. Silas' medicinal pot store. Even Shane has grown into a wannabe bully. Nancy and Esteban appear to be very much in love during a pseudo-romantic scene in which he proposes as they lay in bed together. Nancy says yes, all is bliss or at least the appearance of bliss, until the last five minutes of the show when a beautiful Latina storms into the house yelling at Esteban in Spanish.

After she leaves, Esteban announces that the wedding is off. In this moment I wish I had paid more attention during H.S. Spanish. I picked out the word gringa and I am pretty sure she isn't complimenting Nancy. Of course I head immediately to the web. For those who need a loose translation of what was said, here ya go:

PILAR
What do you believe you are doing eh? You were already going far, don't you think? You had to have an adventure with a pincha gringa? It's fine that you have to have a son with her. But to marry her? Are you crazy? All eyes in Mexico are on you. All of my hopes, my effort, my money and my time are invested in you. (I think it says here: You would have killed the slutty pincha gringa when....)

ESTEBAN
Are you saying that I have to choose between you and Nancy?

PILAR
No, Esteban. I am saying you have to choose between yourself and her.

This conversation changes a lot of what we thought we knew and I assume Pilar has been the one controlling the money and things around Esteban's empire. It will be interesting to see what happens from here.

The back story of this episode left us equally entertained although I do have one huge gripe. I would really enjoy the show a lot more if the back story was more intertwined with Nancy's life. The entire show is being put into separate category's when Nancy is supposed to be the main character. I don't care if this means Andy, Doug and Silas all move into Esteban's house and they are one big Mafioso familia but we need more of a connection between story lines.

Andy has grown a long, bushy beard, refusing to speak with Nancy and has lost almost $180,000 buying toys off of eBay. It appears that he is on the verge of a breakdown.

Silas isn't doing much better at his pot store where he is being blackmailed by the cop who frequents their store. In a hilarious scene, Doug is pictured getting a spray tan using what I think was spray paint. I couldn't figure out why he didn't just go out and get a real tan when they are about ten feet from the Mexican sun light.

Season 5 is half way through and my sources tell me we will soon see someone from the past re-appear and stir things up. Who that person is, I'll never tell.

XOXO Michi Girl... ;-)
