Goodbye, Prison Break

The love affair is over. And although I knew it was coming it doesn’t lessen the pain. After four glorious years my most loyal friend, the TV show Prison Break has gone to the canceled show network in the sky.

Like clock work, once a week, just as beautiful and funny, always action packed and always entertaining my dose of Prison Break was delivered to my door. I didn’t need to do my hair or my make-up, just curl up on the couch sitting in my comfy pajamas. I remember the first time I saw it. Recorded on VHS no less, because I didn’t even have DVR at the time. I popped the tape in and actually after the first moment decided I didn’t need another show and almost shut it off. Then I came to my senses and realized I could always just never watch it again.

And there began the obsession with not only Prison Break but the lead characters, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. I would scour the internet for pictures and information on these allusive actors and past works of art. Watching any B movie I could find that would give me a glimpse of them. I even sat threw a movie called 3-Way just for a glimpse of Dominic Purcell’s booty and went to some Horror Flick Marathon in Astoria to watch Dominic dance on a grave—pure idiocy but this is how obsessed I was!

Prison Break. The show sucked me in with its gripping story line of a brother (Michael Scofield played by Wentworth Miller) getting himself locked up in Fox River Prison, the same prison where his brother (Lincoln Burrows played by Dominic Purcell) was on death row for killing the Vice President’s brother. The catch: Michael would break his brother out of jail using blue prints to the prison that were tattooed on his body. GENIUS!! How did I not think of this myself? Far-fetched perhaps, but thrilling, nail biting TV at its best. The plethora of hot men certainly didn’t hinder my interest either as you can imagine.

As the plans progress and the Fox River Eight escape and go on the run they work to break down the all allusive Company Conspiracy. Many deaths and many twists with a MiSa love story thrown in for good measure some of the characters walk away with the happy ending they had always hoped for.

I have never loved a group of dirty, rotten convicts more and something tells me if a real group of baddies had broken out of Prison near my house I wouldn’t be so giddy to run across their paths.

This show will always have a special place in my heart and I would have watched them break out of American Prison.. Panamanian Prison.. Mexican Prison..Thailand Prison.. there are many, many countries so I am sure you get my drift, if it meant I could watch these wonderful actors and this amazing show over and over. I can only hope I come across Wenty in many future shows.
